Rest in Peace Jason Auger
An unfortunate change of events has happened; this is a hard dev blog to write.
We began this project at the start of 2022, and it has been a challenging journey for the team. In the beginning, it was only Kosmik Raven & GP that got Dead Dock Protocol started. At this point, I brought Jason Auger into the project after knowing him for over 10 years. Jason and I had many endeavors together, from running Ugeek Club together and going to E3 for the first time with him. Jason was a very good friend and associate of mine, so it was a perfect fit to bring him on to DDP. Jason has always had a great voice, and it was his dream to utilize it for a career. So at this point, Jason became our voice actor, and he took a crack at writing the story for DDP. The project was early in development, so Jason wrote the intro to the game and voiced it. He was so happy and proud to hear his voice and story intro, and so was I. It was a perfect match to have Jason part of this project, and he was beyond excited to share his ideas of putting our names in the story as well. Jason was like the older brother I never had, and I'm very sad about the news I received last week. The news broke my heart that our Jason Auger has passed away. I wept and was in shock after the news, and all I could think of was the precious memories we had together. Thank you, Jason, for being a part of my life and the team at Studio 1979. You will be missed but never forgotten. We're now spending some time mourning during this tough time, and we will be back soon with updates to the game and where we go next. Our condolences go out to his family and friends, and we thank the fans of DDP for supporting us through this tough time. Below is the voiced story intro that Jason wrote and voiced. So if you wanna leave some kind words, this is just a small part of the legacy he left with us. RIP, my good friend, you will be loved and remembered in our hearts and minds.
